Our Golden Rules

‘Treat others as you would like to be treated’

(Matthew 7:12)

We respect each other.

We listen to each other.

We are honest.

We are kind and think about the needs of others.

We say sorry and we forgive.

We take care of our environment.

Our ‘Golden Rules’ and the gospel message: ‘Treat others as you would like to be treated’ are the basis for all discussions regarding attitude and behaviour in school. Each time we deal with an issue in class, play, at lunchtime, or during school clubs; we will refer the children back to the golden rules and encourage them to think about their responsibility for their own behaviour.

Our silver and gold awards, presented at Friday assemblies, are also linked to the golden rules. We recognise that children can not be ‘perfect’ all the time so these are also awarded for ‘effort’, ‘trying harder’ and ‘improving’. Why not use them at home as well? Many parents find that they really work! Children need clear boundaries and a consistent approach by adults if they are to learn from us.
